Airport Water Reclamation Facility

The City of Chandler selected Wilson to provide design and construction management services for its new 5.0 MGD Airport Water Reclamation Facility (AWRF). The plant is an extended aeration design with nutrient removal, and main treatment processes include fine screening, activated sludge basins, secondary clarifiers, flocculation, filtration, UV disinfection, and mechanical dewatering. The City also retained Wilson to design a 5 MGD expansion to the facility. The buildings were designed to service the functional aspects of a water treatment plant and at the same time be aesthetically pleasing for both visitors and staff. The AWRF was designed with an eye toward minimizing operations costs by staffing the facility only during the day. The latest in computerized control systems was included to allow the City to monitor the processes remotely from the City’s SRP Water Treatment Plant.
