North Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant
Lake Havasu City, Arizona
The North Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (NRWWTP) is located approximately one mile East-Southeast of Lake Havasu City Airport and State Route 95 at 7000 Air Park Road. The NRWWTP will have an initial treatment capacity of 3.5 million gallons of wastewater per day (MGD) and could be expanded to an ultimate capacity of 14 MGD. The NRWWTP utilizes a state of the art Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) technology and the quality of the reclaimed water from the plant will exceed what is currently required by state and federal regulating agencies. The membranes are capable of filtering the wastewater to within a particle size of 0.1 micron (for comparison, bacteria are sized from 0.2 to 1 micron). The treated water from the MBRs is disinfected using ultraviolet light (UV) prior to discharge. Reclaimed water from the NRWWTP will be recharged into the groundwater using injection well technology to replenish the aquifer and potentially be reused for irrigation purposes for golf courses and other state permitted uses.
