City of Tempe, AZ
Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) Wells

Wilson planned and designed an aquifer recharge well field for the reclaimed water produced by the Kyrene Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) and the City’s CAP water supply. The project evaluated several system configurations to supply the wells and return backwash to the Kyrene WRF, utilizing a new reclaimed water pump station to supply water to the wells. Over four miles of 12”- 24” pipelines will be constructed to convey reclaimed water to the wells and convey the backwash water from the wells to the plant. Services were provided to update the Aquifer Protection Permit (APP) for the Kyrene WRF, including the recharge well field. Each recharge well consists of a submersible well pump, a down-hole flow control valve, power service, automated controls, and a wall enclosure. The capacity of the wells is 2,000 GPM in recharge mode and 2,500 GPM in pumping mode.
