Heavenly Residence

The Problem:
The owner wanted a craftsman-style “ski-out” home at the base of Heavenly Ski Resort. However, the proposed project site was more cliff than lot, creating significant architectural and engineering design challenges.
The Solution:
The design conformed to the building and its natural topography rather than altering the natural topography to accommodate the structure. A single-story element was proposed on the high or roadside of the project, and a three-story element, totaling 50 feet in height, on the low or ski slope side.
The Results:
The project was built to realize the owner’s dream of a “ski-out” residence. The project design blends with the natural terrain and maintains the character of some of the best ski slopes in Tahoe.
