Pioneering Projects for Clean, Reliable Water

City of Phoenix, AZ
91st Avenue Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP)
Electrical Inspection and Testing

Wilson Engineers conducted comprehensive electrical inspections and testing

Wilson assessed the existing electrical infrastructure to determine if it complied with the arc flash hazard requirements outlined in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 1584, and the National Electrical Code (NEC). Wilson gathered the necessary data to perform an arc flash analysis at three of the City’s water treatment plants, which involved extensive analysis and data collection from the existing electrical gear and equipment, as well as coordination with operations personnel. Additionally, the project involved verifying existing single-line diagrams, performing load calculations for power distribution, and updating load schedules based on the field data collected. Coordinating the inspection of the existing electrical facilities while the WWTP remained operational was challenging; however, careful pre-planning and detailed Maintenance of Plant Operations (MOPOs) enabled the inspection process to occur during brief outages.

Relevant Project Features
