Wilson performed a reservoir condition assessment for construction administration and inspection services, in conjunction with the rehabilitation design documents, for the 40 MG concrete reservoir. The project involved inspections, both wet and dry, of the interior and exterior portions of the reservoir and a summary report was prepared to identify the rehabilitation needs. Detailed design drawings were created for the installation of a new hypalon liner system, a standing seam metal roof, fiberglass baffles, and repairs to the spalling concrete columns and the concrete ring wall. A computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis was conducted to identify the locations for the new fiberglass baffles. Furthermore, with the introduction of the Stage II Disinfection By-Product Rule, the project included an analysis to integrate a future aeration strategy, permitting the installation of floating aerators to minimize the formation of potential trihalomethanes (TTHMs).
Relevant Project Features:
-
Concrete potable water storage reservoir design.
-
Consideration of regulatory requirements associated with the mitigation of disinfection by-products, including provisions for future aeration addition.
