Val Vista Transmission Main (WTM) Rehabilitation

Wilson was selected to prioritize the rehabilitation efforts associated with several VVTM pipe segments. As part of the effort, the remaining host pipe segments were evaluated, and it was determined that the host pipe segments that had not been rehabilitated were considered the most compromised sections of the overall program. As such, Wilson provided design documents while implementing cost-saving techniques for the associated remaining portal segments. The design included rehabilitation of approximately 8 miles of 96-108” diameter precast concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP). The rehabilitation design consisted of using factory-coated mortar solid steel can liners inserted within the existing host pipe and welding the pipe joint segments. The annular space between the host pipe and the new liners was then filled with grout and pressurized to a maximum of 5 psi to prevent the steel can from collapsing.
