Water System Improvements

The SEHOA owns and operates a small community water system that serves approximately 29 single-family residential connections. After receiving a compliance order from the Mono County Department of Environmental Health, the SEHOA applied for and received grant funding to explore options for arsenic remediation. The firm was tasked with preparing a preliminary engineering report, completing California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) compliance, and designing the selected system. Several water treatment system alternatives were considered in the Preliminary Engineering Report; however, the recommended treatment alternative was an adsorption system designed for peak daily flow with storage for peak hourly flow. The final design and engineering services included coordinating with the State Water Board for funding, designing and constructing a new well, rehabilitating the existing hot well, designing the arsenic treatment system, and creating a cooling loop for the hot well. In addition, water quality testing and analysis were conducted.
